Unwelcome news

On Friday January 29th, 2010 the Anderson family received some unwelcome news. We were informed that Becky had breast cancer. On February 1st we had the opportunity to meet Cindy Stewart and received an informative pink binder which included among other things Dr. appointments all ready set up. An MRI was performed on February 2nd. On February 3rd we reviewed the results of the MRI. Dr. Tamayo had the unfortunate job of informing us that the cancer is widespread. Both Becky and I would like to thank Cindy and Dr. Tamayo for their kindness and generosity. Also for the professionalism that both Cindy and Dr. Tamayo emanate and for the hope they give. It is good to know that we live in a place where we can receive medical care from individuals like them.

  1. I wanted to be the first to comment on your blog...so here goes...I think your unwelcome news sucks....BIGTIME! I wish that all the crappy things could be reserved for all the crappy people....not the great ones, like you. We all wish we could fight this battle for you....but since we can not, we will do all we can to fight it with you. (You know the Anderson's....you mess with one of us...you mess with all of us)ha! We love you guys and will pray for you always. I look forward to one of your future posts....the one where you say...I'm cancer free! Hope we'll see you guys this weekend. -Also, the goofy looking kid... with you and Isaac...how sad that his mom would comb his hair like that!?

  2. I just wanted you to know how much we care about your family and know that we have you in our prayers. I know from a mother's stand point how devastating this news can be. My grandmother, mom, sister and daughter have been down this road. I do know from my mom's experiences with breast cancer that the postivie attitude you are showing makes all the difference. My mom always said you have to believe in the treatment and then put it in God's hands. She has survived 35 years since she was first diagnosed and the last recurrance in 1997, when they told her she would live a year after this round of chemo and she still brightens each day for our family. I also learned from Rachel to always have faith that miracles do happen. Losing her hair was hard for about a week and then she put on her baseball cap and went on her way. She was such an example to us and I know you will be an example to everyone for your faith and positive attitude. I have always admired your sweet spirit and love for your Heavenly Father and your family. We love you and are always here if you need anything. Scott and Virgina Shepherd

  5. Becky,

I am shocked!!! I was reading my sister's blog and she was talking about a blog that she reads. I clicked on your blog and couldn't believe it was you. The Becky Anderson I know, who has helped me through so much. I want you to know I am thinking about you and your darling family. Thanks for all you do. Let me know if I can ever do anything.
